Im due for an upgrade next week. I can pretty much get any phone, except the gold plated Armani shmodel phones.

At the moment I am torn between the flashy HTC Touch Diamond which does quite a lot, and the Sony Ericsson c902 which has a marvelous camera.

At the moment I have a Nokia N80. I hate it at the moment. It is slow, it doesnt offer me anything great, it has a poor camera and feels flimsy. I like the SE c902 because of its camera and it looks well-built (ie. none of that sliding nonsense) and reminds me of my Nokia 6230 many years ago. Just a standard looking phone which does what I want. I need a browser and I like syncing with my computer which I think the HTC Touch Diamond is good at because of its Windows Mobile. I tend to go for the bigger picture, ie. what the phone can end up doing if the correct programs are installed. Im open to any other ideas please please please.

I've got an HTC Touch Diamond - my only complaint is that the interface is a little sluggish other than that its a great phone with ALL the bells and whistles.

Have you upgraded your ROM? If you haven't upgrade to the latest Official ROM (doesnt void your warranty) 1.93 - That speeds up the interface quite a bit.

The Diamond is a great phone, I upgraded to it from a N80 and it moves you into another world! It is a solid piece of machinery. However if you are set on a fantastic camera, the Diamond may disappoint a little. Don't get me wrong, the picture quality given the right conditions is pretty darn good, but probably not as good as say the SE which is really built for its great camera. Remember there also is no flash on the Diamond, so that may or may not swing your vote.

There is a million miles between the N82 and any other Nokia. I can recommend it especially if you are looking for a marvelous camera - check these : http://picasaweb.google.com/rouxenator/NokiaN82BestSoFar

The problem with SE phones is they use Memory Stick and that is a Sony proprietary format so it costs more than standards like microSD

If you do not need multitasking of user applications then you might want to look at some of the new Series 40 nokia phones coming out with Feature Pack 6.

thanks guys for all your help. its such a stalemate im in.

Im ready to take the HTC, but then i think of 2 years down the line and how much i dislike my n80 and just want my older phone.

then with the c902, i dont just want to settle for a camera when HTC can do SO MUCH MORE.

In 2 years time whichever phone you take is gonna be ugly, and you'll want the new in-thing... So dont think about that. At this moment, what would best suit your needs/wants. Then get that one :D

cool.... just ordered the HTC. getting it tomorrow. better be cool :) :) :)

suppose if i maintain it well i can sell it whenever and invest a bit of 'tom' to buy the next best thing hey.

to be honest with you, don't expect too much from c902's camera, coz i have used it already, i had it 2 month ago when i was in taiwan, the camera is defintely not as good as the k850i, im using the g900 at moment, camera also not up to the 5mp standard, but it depends on individual's preference, if you not too picky on camera c902 is good enough, it's quite slim as well, if i were you i'd wait for the samsung i900 omnia, which will be launched in mid sept, the i900 will be a big rival to the iphone 3g..
