My son plays a game called OSU a lot. This requires a great deal of mouse-clicking at a very fast pace. He likes his mouse to be quite light, and this year has had two Corsair Scimitar MMO devices. Both times the left-click of the mouse starts to break and eventually he has to scrap the mouse. He has had a Razer Naga before, but it was too heavy for his liking and fast movement.

Any suggestions for a light, robust mouse, and it does not have to be an MMO type mouse with buttons along the side.

The naga is lighter than the scimitar according to specs?

Look at the Logitech G600, it's lighter than the scimitar and logitech quality is pretty good.

Get a can of compressed air, open the mouse and spray around the buttons to get rid of the dust.

It is a very old Naga, which he got from me when I bought a Naga Trinity. Mine was easily more than 5 years old already and was a brick. So the Scimitar felt considerably lighter.

VPRO series, used mine for WOW classic and still going strong even though I do not play WOW anymore :)

The first one we did open up and look around. We blew it out with a high speed hair dryer which was all we had. That didn't help. We bought the second one, which took a month to arrive. It was fine for about 3 months, and the week he started playing OSU again he says the mouse click has yet again stopped working consistently.

Great thanks I will take a look. I have done some reading and it appears a lot of very light mouse devices are around the 80g mark, or anything under 100g is consider optimal.

The Ghost M1 if you like a really light gaming mouse:

How is that a moba/mmo mouse?
Any decent mouse is a MMO mouse. I know that you get mouses with extra keys but those are more gimmick. I was directing the person to an ultra light gaming mouse.

No, he would prefer to not get an MMO mouse. So I have avoided these.

@Mux, I did look at it, actually it was the last one I looked at. I saw a review on the Deathadder v2 versus the Viper, and that convinced me to not go with it due to how the right side of the mouse rested in a large hand. It was just an observation piece, but it did make me wary of going with the Viper.

I have settled on a Razer Deathadder V2.

At 63g it's less than half the weight of the scimitar.
I have always found the tracking of the Logitech mice the best, better than Razer. Except for the one mouse with a known scroll wheel issue, they have rock solid.

I still have my 2003 Logitech MX 500.

As for the left click button breaking... in which way?
An aggressive clicker friend wore out the left click of the MX 500 mentioned above. Upon opening it up, I say he dented the internal "button" that actually clicks. I built it up again with super glue and haven't had any issues since.

Edit:
I see my G502 is technically lighter than the Scimitar, and it is not a light mouse at all. I really enjoy it, and did enjoy the G403 as well until the scroll wheel packed up. Don't know if they fixed the issue yet.

Warn him about wrist and finger strain from constant repetitive movements.

The Razer Deathadder was my previous mouse. I thought I'd I try the Viper, which I am super happy with. The Deathadder does sit better in the hand.
