Recommended TV Box for streaming Netflix etc

What TV Box streaming thing is recommended for Netflix, Showmax and things like that?

I’m using Apple TV, doing research for parents in law who don’t want to buy an Apple TV
 
Chromecast is about as simple as it gets if they have Android phones already.
