Lots of people record it for viewing when it fits them. First on their video machines and still on hard disk recorders.

Cutting edge? I had a barcode scanner to schedule my vhs recordings. From the frikken remote. Cut that edge...

You could scan from Huisgenoot tv guide and send to tv via your barcode remote. Was it just panasonic that try that.
 
Worse memory from those years.....

When you rented a movie you have been waiting weeks to see only to slip it into the player and the tape jumped....
