I saw mention in another thread about Top TV 'blocking' recordings, and someone responded thathe had heard DStv were working on a similar thing - have I read this wrong, or does it mean they are going to implement some sort of system wherebye I can't record programmes onto my HDD recorder to watch later on? If this is the case, this is incredibly frustrating - I record a lot of series during the week because I am late home from meetings, and they are either then repeated to late at night or during the day ...while I am at work! Does anyone know about this?

It's true... Forcing people to buy a PVR! And TopTV is blocked with no PVR option, tried recording last night to my HDD recorder, not working.

Hell, if they go that route then they can stick their decoder side ways where the sun doesn't shine. Would rather cancel and take out a contract with a decent video store - get my movies and series when I want them, and watch them at my own leisure.

Some are already discussing workarounds to the recordings being blocked in this thread.

Lets say it is _not_ impossible to record from TTV at this stage.

Well, AFAIK, many of the content suppliers (for example Fox) require this feature on the decoders, to protect their content... I think the TopTV decoder has MacroVision? So, the channels that TopTv would be able to get would probably be very limited if they allowed external recording.
