Hi all, I had a MS 365 Business Basic subscription that was deleted by Microsoft due to non-payment, I have re-activated the subscription but I can't get my files back. I contacted support via the admin portal but they insist the files have been deleted and can't be recovered to which I strongly disagreed.
The files aren't there in OneDrive and there's no deleted Sharepoint site that appears. How do I recover my files from the cloud-OneDrive?

You strongly disagree that their platform nuked your files when your account was deleted.
I would hope that the files are deleted for privacy reasons.
Your files are gone. If you don't have at least other two backups of important files then they are obviously not that important.

I understand that as a policy the files will be deleted but technically they are recoverable.

They have a 90-day retention period. It is structured. You renewed later than then; your data is not available to you anymore.
I'm aware of the 90-day retention period, I renewed on day 91 , I'm hopeful I'll get them back

You are late. Day 91 is a terminal state.

Please, elaborate.. We await your expertise on your files being technically recoverable...
Long explanation but files should be recoverable provided certain conditions are met, whether they are useable after the recovery is a diffferent story. I was hoping there's a way to run recovery tools on the package.

It's not a usb flash drive...

If MBB had a thing called "Facepalm thread of the day", this one would have gotten my vote and it's still early morning. I doubt a more facepalm worthy discussion would come up for the rest of the day.

If you think that your allocated storage space hasn't already been overwritten with someone else's data or they have written random data after deleting yours, you are sorely mistaken..

Dump everything on the cloud and call it a day they said.

Alway better to have a hard backup along a cloud backup.
No, that's not what they said.. They said you should always have three versions of your most important data.. If cloud is one of those versions, fine, but don't make cloud your only version like OP did here...

See this is what I have to deal with most days.

But not only from clients but management.

The clients then run to management of whom then come to me.

"The client says there is a way for me to recover the files, please assist"

Best is to log it with MS.
If they say NO, then the files are gone.

I might go as far as the entire week. This is a ripper

Ask Microsoft to go to their datecenter, take out the one hard-drive that had your files on it and tell them to send it to https://www.southbit.co.za/
Quality services!
I lost some files on Google Drive. I advised Google to send hard drive #23487 to Southbit and they were able to recover the data and send the hard drive back to Google. Google engineers said the data wasn't recoverable, but I knew better than they did about their own systems.
