Recovering HDD

With my radical problems i had this weekend, my extra (backup) HDD seems to be empty.

Can I do a HDD recovery (from windows or Linux)?

Alternatively, I can ask our Crew at work to recover it... but that's no guarantee. There is vital info on there. I really need it back.

What filesystem is it?

edit: this has worked for me: very easy, thorough NTFS recovery, and pain in the ass, 'sort of' recovery from a few ReiserFS disks.

Well, it was NTFS, but I suspect I did something wrong in Linux... so, I'm not to sure anymore.

Thanks for the link, I'm first going to see if our Data Forensic Team can do anything about it...
