Good day. Approximately 6 weeks ago, I had my appendix removed (laparoscopic surgery). My recovery has been going well so far with some pain coming and going (not sever pain). This coming Monday, it will be six weeks since the surgery. I still have some light pain (kind of like a dull pain) in my abdomen. Is this normal? Has anyone experienced similar recovery process? TIA

Yes, though mine burst and I had a second surgery for complication after.

Took me about two months and I still got twinges up until probs a year later, just slowly build up strength again and it all fades with time, if you're worried though, always consult a doctor.

Thanks for the feedback. I went to the dr today and he took blood tests to see if there is possible re-infection. I have to go back on Monday to see the results. Hopefully it will be good news.

I also had complications after my appendix burst in the Kruger Park and was rushed to Nelspruit. We cut our holiday short and returned home after being discharged. When I arive home, I was good for a day and then started burning up with fever, my wife rushed me to hospital and I was admitted for sepsis and spent another 10 days in hospital. The cause apparently was that the would was infected when the burst appendix was taken out through the laparoscopic surgery point! I also have no feeling in a spot on my upper right leg.

If the dull ache persists, I suggest you have it checked out. Good luck.

Had mine out 2 years ago, my trigger to pee for months was a pain where my appendix was.

Saw the video for my op, they're not gentle in there

Thanks for the reply. Did they do it with open surgery or laparoscopically?

You sure they took your appendix out. Did you actually see it come out?

I had my "removed" late October last year. It had burst more than a month prior to the surgery, so they had to do an open surgery to remove all the gunk. But 2 months later I was dead-lifting again. Its still tight around the scar area, so if I stretch it hurts, but thats about it. You just need to keep on strengthening the area

Yeah there will be a light pain for a bit, I had mine done in the late 90s and for the first two weeks was tough. I had an operation on my testicle last year, maaaan I never remembered ops taking awhile to heal, like 5 to 6 weeks to properly start feeling right, afterwards up till 6 months where it was tender still.

I had mine taken 5 years ago. I had to have three surgeries after wards and 3 months in hospital to finally recover. I also couldn't eat for two and half of those months. How bad is the pain?

Thanks for the reply. You are lucky that you have recovered so quickly

Thanks for the reply. I’m sorry to hear that. The pain isn’t excruciating but it is enough for me to notice it and wake me from my sleep sometimes. I started feeling nauseous as well. I’m on my way to see the Dr for more blood tests and perhaps a CT scan
