Rectron/Corex link?

Esquire is the only place that ever seems to have modems when you need them most, so that what I get from them, and those black handle cases, I love those!

yeah those cases are real nice.but i have my eye on the nzxt apollo case which they sell.but its probably not worth it to fork out that amount of money on a case.the black handle one will have to do.

do esquire have like a min amount you have to buy from them pm or such policies?

and rectron could soon be a subsidary of Mustek (Mecer).

Read in the biz day that directors of Mustek have put it forward to shareholders to vote in favour of a purchase of rectron shares

Corex / Rectron / Mustek

The whole Mustek / Rectron / Corex relationship is quite incestuous.

Mustek & Rectron :-
A few years back I saw letterheads of the overseas branches of Rectron showing they were/are subsidiaries of Mustek.

Locally, collusion between Mustek & Rectron ensures that Mustek distributes Mecer while Rectron distributes components. That is why Rectron does not have a brand of its own and probably never will. This is to prevent the diluting of the Mecer brand and to prevent competition between each other. [Unfair business practices ? - you be the judge]

Corex & Rectron :-
The CEOs of Mustek & Rectron started Corex originally to attempt to undercut and create a competitor to Sahara.

They were pissed off because Sahara secured agencies that they also had.

Also the naming of the cricket ground in Cape Town to Sahara Park was quite a bee in their bonnet.

As Corex was/is privately owned amongst themselves and not listed, they felt they could create a company that could be a thorn in Saharas' side. The idea was a good one, they could upset and rattle the market place and not have shareholders or investors to account to.

So in a nutshell, when you do business with Rectron / Corex / Mustek; you are effectively dealing with the same group of people.

I was heavily involved with Rectron once and was privy to some of the shenanigans and corporate manipulations that goes on. If only the investors and shareholders know what goes on between these 3 companies.

Obviously I cannot divulge too much as I am still active in the IT industry and these are some pretty powerful boys to mess with.

As for Mustek asking their sharholder to purchase Rectron shares ........ thats a whole another story ...............

I still prefer Rectron they might be more expensive then Esquire,Corex and all the other places. But they the only place i know of that sells Gigabyte.Never had a problem with any Gigabyte motherboard.

Problem is, Corex is as expensive as Rectron. I only by UPSs and AOpen power supplies from them lol

I prefer Frontosa, but I have a spread of suppliers to try to avoid the dreaded "out of stock" words...

Corex, Rectron and Axiz are probably the most expensive now days. If you go to the Rectron site and select "Group Operation Contacts" on the left, one of the items listed is Corex so they are definitely the same buggers. We had to get a Corex dealership today because Axiz does not have ASUS motherboard stock again. Sahara is still the best for us but I am not a fan of the FoxConn motherboards. BTW: What do you think of the ThermalTake PSU's?

I prefer Frontosa, but I have a spread of suppliers to try to avoid the dreaded "out of stock" words...

I hate those words. The only one who hardly ever says that is Sahara. It's gotten to the point where I can't quote without doing a stock check. Every time I do I seem to get burnt.

Frontosa has ASUS boards too. Axiz has great graphics card and Kingston RAM prices. I also try to avoid the foxconn boards, just due to little things that niggle me. I love Biostar stuff, cheap but decent.

PSU wise I do AOpen and Antec. My own AOpens are quiet and havent ever given me problems even with overclocking. I havent used the Thermaltake PSUs but I have had problems with some of their other products so I try to avoid them.

Thats good to know. My business is software not hardware but from time to time we have to supply a PC as well. We also buy PC's for our internal use. We don't need kick ass power PC's, just stuff that is reliable which is why we use the ASUS boards. I don't like Rectron so it's nice to know there is an alternative dealership that sells ASUS.

Places like PC International is killing the dealers though, some of their prices it cheaper than we can get at Rectron, Pinnacle, Axiz etc. Not that I'm complaining because everyone should get components at a good price but if you are trying to make a living it's not so good
