Hi,

I just spoke to Rectron about returning a Seagate 250GB HDD. They said that they had to send it off to Joburg and that it will cost R180 to get it replaced.

Any ideas as to why they charged me R180 as opposed to the normal R50?

Thanks

Is it out of guarantee? If not, they don't usually charge, but if it is, maybe this is their new minimum charge. Did you enquire?

I take it you don't have the invoice for the drive? Otherwise it would be free replacement in warranty.

It's under warranty until November 2012. Rectron says the drive wasn't bought from them. I've read of forum members only having to pay Rectron a R50 ex VAT handling fee to replace a Seagate drive that wasn't originally bought from them. Just curious as to why they charged me R180.
