Ive managed to get my hold on a Rectron price list and was wondering how many people out the are reselling directly from Rectron at decent prices?

Figure there must be some demand if you don't try and make a killing off every single item?

Anyway, I want to go down that line to build my dream rig(sandy bridge gtx 580), can anyone recommend a reseller for me?

You can call rectron and ask them to direct you to one of their resellers that are nearest to you.

What he said.

By the way, it may seem to you like resellers charge ridiculous prices, but margins in the IT industry are very low.

A Rectron reseller making 10-20% on a PC is far cry from your 'friendly, helpful, awesome' A/V guy making 40% off of every home theatre you buy. No one questions those guys though because there are far fewer - with less of them willing to spray their supplier's pricelists all over the interwebs.

The oke I got the pricelist from is a total idiot... 10 to 20% margins? Thats what I was expecting but couldn't find a site doing that. Most of them are in the 25+ range, which is still cheap but not cheap enough after seeing the pricelist.

Thanks for your input

I read it thanks, was wondering how hard it is to register for Rectron and just buy the stuff myself....?

You need to have a registered business. And you need to be able to do a certain amount per month.

have you got a business name & bank acc? Trade references?

Sounds easy enough, I'll be doing about 30-50k in the order. That is why i want to use then, saving 10% on a mouse won't matter too much, but saving 10% on a 30k order will help allot.

Question is whether they will allow this order though?

So you have 1 order with a value between 30k to 50k ? Why from Rectron?

Rectron won't deal with you for a single order of R30 - R50k... if you were doing that monthly they might consider it.

Can you show trade references?
company cheque(canceled)
will you be buying monthly from them to meet their min buying requirement?
Previous year's financials?
With COD accounts they also won't release goods until the funds clear in their account for new clients.

I doubt you'll get an account.

/this is why i laugh when guys who can't buy from them ask for suppliers price list, setting yourself up for disappointment, falsely accusing smaller resellers of ripping you off etc

snap :p

what the OP & others forget is that as the retailers we carry the time risk if something goes wrong with a component.
We get to go sit there in their tech department & wait for testing or we need to get the goods there, leave it & return another day.

OP please don't contact me to get you those goods. I need to make a profit not sell at cost.

There's tons of one man band IT companies out there that will charge you rectron/wherever prices + 10%.

Keep in mind that the Rectron prices exclude VAT at 14%. Most smaller companies I've dealt with do the 10% markup thing.

Something tells me he forgot to add VAT before working out the pricing.

OP - that could be the 25% you're talking about - 14% of it is VAT, the rest is the +/- 11% is markup.
