Recycled Numbers (Vodacom): Timeframes

Just out of interest, does anyone know how long cellular providers take to recycle numbers and assign them to new users?

I recently got a new number, but the amount of calls and sms's from different sources looking for the same person who I presume had this number before me is quite astonishing!

Cellc does it once the number hasnt been active for 3 months.I discovered this because the new user of the my prepaid number has a whatsapp profile.My sister has a data/tablet contract with vodacom and received calls from debt collectors .They harassed her in an attempt to contact the previous owner.She named and shamed vodacom on hellopeter and eventually they changed the number free of charge.Vodacom wasn't very understanding so i suggest going the hellopeter route,posting it on your facebook wall and possibly tweeting.I dont understand the point of Rica if they are going to reissue numbers.

I just got a contract with vodacom within few minutes I was getting plenty shank transaction smses and other messages, I receive at least 5 calls per day people looking for that person
