Hi guys. I need to know if the Hp Dv6920ei pavillion will support red alert 3. ie . . will the game be sluggish etc. The laptop specs seem to meet the req:
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1
Pentium Dual core T2390
Nvidia Geforce 8400m Gs with 256mb dedicated up to 512 shared
1Gb ram

please let me know cos i wanna purchase one and need to know if i can play Red Alert 3 on it

having that shared GFX is going to drain your ram. and i think games now days need at least 2 gigs to play something decent. you going to have 768 megs of memory to play it. i dont think thats going to be enough. but everything else should be ok.

RA3 is a try before you buy game... Check the forums, there are a lot of people that hates it. And a few that love it. So, ask to *cough* borrow *cough* a friend's copy, try it for the weekend, and then decide. ;)

You need a better gpu...

Rather get a lappie with at least a 8600 gpu.

that gpu should be able to do it....i played cnc3 on a 6600, even if he lowers a few setting i sure it would work...i could be wrong,, but i'm sure it might

@foozball3000 - im a C&C fan so i like the franchise. :-)

@ wHiTe*LiGhTnInG im gonna up the ram to 4Gb most prob. if not then 2Gb.

the reason why im asking is i sold my old laptop. i have no place in my house for a pc, otherwise i wouldv just built me a normal pc. And because EA is not bringing the flippin game out on ps3. Im kinda peeved abt that.

It's because the ps3 isn't a gaming console. It's a blu ray player. :p

Honestly lappies are almost impossible to upgrade. Get 4gig ram and a better gpu. Long term it will be better.

well the guy just came to fetch my machine now. im laptopless. lol. anyways i dont think a gpu can be changed on a laptop. ram yes. the bundle im getting is the laptop + a printer + five ea games (old games) i think one of them is C&C generals + 3 year frr warranty. all for R10000. good deal?

lol. nowadays im watching more movies on my ps3 than playing games. lol. although its quite difficult to play now that im a daddy as well. Babies require alot of attention. EISH!!!! :p

for 10000 bucks you can get a kickass pc....i'd rather play on that in a small corner, than on a laptop. if you hav'nt even bought it yet,, i'd say get a pc and make a plan for ur space if you say its small, then you can play red alert 3 no worries.

you know i was just thinking the same thing. i can actually just hook a pc up to my plasma for now. get a screen later when i find space. I dont use my laptop for work anymore in anycase. Dilemma solved. . . . . .well that is untill i get a pc. lol

That is correct. What I meant was get a laptop with a better gpu. The fact you can't change it means you're stuck with it.

Depends on the spec of the laptop.

You do get gfx cards with hdmi outputs. That is the best way forward. Not laptop.

yeah man jusy hook it to ur plasma,, and ur sorted,, u will be playing much more games on the pc than any laptop can ever do, and your plasma will look better than any ps3 game can play. i bet you wont even stick with red alert 3 for long, and you'll be playing far cry 2 or something,, cause then you pc can handle it

best part is my brother sells pcs. he busy bulding me one at the mo. just told him to load me up with everything he got for R10000. and thats without a monitor. think i should get something nice out of that dont you think so.

yeah ofcourse, without a screen, you can get something way decent for even 6500 bucks,, my pc worked out to around 4500 bucks, without the graphics card.
so 5500 bucks on your graphics card, is like the best there is, gsk 280 or something

Just make sure the gfx card has hdmi out.

LOL. A gtx 280 will eat 2/3 of his budget.

A 4870 with a quad core is what he wants.
