If you are having problems getting the internet settings for your Red Bull Mobile Android phone you can put in the settings manually.

In 'Settings' go to 'Wireless & networks' => 'Mobile networks' =>'Access point names'

Create a New APN

Name: Cell C
APN: internet
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: guest
Password: guest
Server: 168.210.2.2 (or 196.14.239.2)
Leave everything else as is...

I saw an ad last night for this phone. does it have a form of bis like bb?

Nope it just comes worth a butt load of free data for almost nothing. And for BBM use whatsapp.

Sent from my apple stomping, berry crushing droid! Samsung Galaxy S.

You get:

200 Anytime minutes
100 SMS's
500MB Data

For R249/month including CLI.

that sounds decent. but i would have to port. makes me nervous. hows service levels? was thinking of going berry since data is killing me... but i love my droid..very torn

I ported my number from Vodacom. No problem. My sim was working on the new network in about 30 minutes. Just be sure that you FIRST convert to prepaid before you want to port.

Service as far as customer care goes, as per Cell C's norm is shocking. But after manually setting up the internet everything works great except the '3G hotspot' function on the Motorola Defy.

What's funny is the customer care number 140 does not even dial from the phone at all. This tops the list of FAIL. The Red Bull Mobile booklet says to dial 140 for customer care with any queries but its not even an option! Way to go Cell C.

But the package is such a good deal and the RBM HD and Motorola Defy are great phones so I think its worth it anyway. I've had no problems with reception or internet speeds.

Update:

These settings will give you full access to the RBM portal, including the RBM apk's. Only change these settings, leave the others on their default/blank setting:

name: redbull
apn: internet
proxy: 196.031.116.250
port: 8080
mcc: 655
