Hi

Since yesterday I have a empty red notification circle. I can't get rid of it. It is for voicemail.

I restored my iphone but the same thing. I thought MTN is launcing visual voicemail, but cant find anything on the web.

iphone4
iOS5
MTN

Any ideas why this is?

Thanks
Tony

There was a suggestion:

Settings ->Call ->Clear voicemail notification

Not sure if this works. I don't have iOS5 yet.

Let us know if this works ...

Are you jailbroken? (it doesn't look like it?)

Some suggetions from my side:
- Call yourself and leave a voicemail. Then try and listen to the voicemail by pushing the voicemail button in the phone app. See if it disappears.
- Put a friends Vodacom SIM in and see if you can clear the notification. If that doesn't work, try a friends SIM who has Visual Voicemail activated on Vodacom.
- Settings, General, Reset, Reset all settings - worth a try as this sometimes resets settings that not even a restore resets.

Thx. I will give it a try.

Nope not jailbroken.
Did call myself only get a normal sms on mtn.

Very wierd!

What happens if you press the voicemail button in the phone app?

You might need to do the vodacom sim thing :/ Or else ask MTN if they cant help like deleting the voicemail off the server or something.

Ok

I have inserted my iPad's Vodacom sim. Then it is fixed. As soon as I insert the MTN sim again the red circle is back. So it seems the problem is with MTN. What do you think? Will give them a call to do the reset thing, but to explain the problem to a call centre agent will be a challenge.

Haha I was just thinking it will be a mission explaining to them.. Well at least you have isolated the problem.

See if theres any way they can reset voicemail server/mailbox. Guess that is what I would ask them. And attempt to explain the problem :p

Will do and keep you posted. Might however take a lifetime.

Thanks for your help!

Ok...still no solution from MTN, they are useless!

Did long research on google and it seems my problem is not an isolated case. Someone suggested I replace my SIM card.

I took a change, paid R135 for a new SIM card....problem SOLVED!!!

Cheers

Mighty odd. Perhaps with the new SIM and registration process it clears it??

Anyways, glad you are solved and that someone with the same problem will pick up this thread in google :)

Thanks for the feedback
