Telkom please wake up !

With the cap in place the intl bandwidth is sooooo sloooow one can't even log into messenger or email from wordlclient for that matter. This is sick and shows the lack of commitment and thought Telkom have put into this product. I sincerely hope they fire the product manager for ADSL.

At least give us 64k or 56k comitted rate after the cap.

There is technology used by other ADSL and Broadband providers that provide an SSC - Self Service Centre where the user can select the amount of bandwdith, can buy additional bandwidth on demand and not through stupid subscription. Telkom and the ISP's (which fall under Telkoms protection) are milking the customers for every last cent.

I hope the competition to Telkom will listen to clients more and not have such an egocentric attitude.

Yours truly

Fed up Telkom Customer

I know exactly what you mean.

My bandwidth mysteriously disappeared this month, as a result, I'm capped. Telkom has been unable to tell me where, why and how my bandwidth disappeared.

So what does this mean to me and many others in the same position? It means we can't work. And what is the end result? We lose money.

Does Telkom care? NO.

The absolute least they should do is let us have a 56k connection once capped.

Telkom's ADSL service is not worth R200, let alone R1000!! [:(!]

I've been a ADSL user for just under a year now. Not a month has gone by where I have not reached my cap. With the exception of a local cache or proxy server there is nothing we can do. However, rumours are spreading of a VPN solution where the cap could be avoided completely. Is this true?

And with regards to the international speed. All I can say is it is no speed at all. At times, with the cap, I have known to have timeouts on www.google.com. I hate telkom, and if their competetion comes out at the same price, I'm still gonna change...

We are paying almost 5 times what the people in new zealand are paying. Why do we have to pay for this crap?

Seems like Megalan have a solution for the cap; don;t know how legal or if Telkom will allow in the long run. Also it's a bit more expensive.

The question is why do you use it then? It proves my point that we have been starved of broadband for so long that people will do just about anything to have it now.
Telkom know they have us between a rock and a hard place, for now that is...

I personally use it because there is no other option. I either fork out R1000 a month for a substandard service but am able to do my work during peak hours or I have to pay telkom's absolutely ridiculous non callmore rates to connect during the day. Just with any other one man small business, I can't afford the non callmore rates. So what choice do we have?? They know this, and thats why they simply don't care about our problems. Very sad indeed.

Good day all,

I normally don’t post that much in this forum, but I have to vent on this one. I have now resorted to having 2 accounts with Telkom Internet! *spit* I am disparately looking for an ISP that offers ADSL with out going over the SAIX international backbone as this is the most unstable piece of sh*t! It is more down/congested that what it is actually up and running as it should. I just want to give them a [B)]

Regards,

Henk Hugo

I'm currenly with www.nocap.co.za. They use a socks proxy server to get all international traffic through their lines. Really works.

If i am not mistaken i was told by someone that int line is only 128k and we all share it , but that sounds abit to messed up , how does it actualy work

sitting here waiting for my so called broadband to work and do the download or even getting to an international website to load. still having problems understanding what my usage is. spoke to telkom, some of the guys are good technically but not able to help .... no answers about where the bandwidth has been used etc. tried to track usage via the telkom meter... but this only seems to apply to 'telkomsa internet' users.

the nocap option seems interesting.
