Saw another peep mention the Redphone app in a thread about the sims that had their keys stolen.
Decided to give it a go. Sent the playstore link to my mother and 3 minutes later i got a redphone call from her lol. Call quality was ok. A slight delay but nothing severe. The calls are encrypted via aes 256 i think. Uses the speex codec. Hope they change over to opus rather. The app for iphone is called Signal. Not sure why they called it something different but seems they will bring these two apps together in future...but regardless redphone and signal users can voip each other.
Had a 20 minute long call with my mom and it used about 8megs. So not too data hungry i think.
