Reduction in speed & interrupted downloads?

Is it just me or has iBurst speed decreased over the last 10 days? I am staying in Broadacres (Fourways) and when I installed iBurst back in May (with external antenna, 100% signal strength) I used to get about 500-700kbps.

I nowadays don't seem to exceed 300kpbs and nothing has changed in my configuration. It also seems that bigger downloads get interrupted. While this can be overcome by a download-manager, this does not apply to my PS3.

Since Thursday I had tried to download a game-patch (Burnout Paradise) and it is now 9 download-attempts (and 1,1 GB later) and I still have not been able to get the single 150MB file down.

I have now finally applied for ADSL (last time failed as Telkom was not able to install copper in 6 months) - but I rather wait for Telkom. iBurst call-centre is useless and I am still waiting for that technician who was supposed to phone me back within 30 minutes (this was 19th September, 9am).

Who else has similar problems?
 
In CTN, Gardens - same issue - possibly due to bachaul ISP and iBurst not willing to cough up to provide adequate bandwidth...
 
I am still sitting with the same problem. Have escalated to every contact within iBurst possible. At the same time submitted complaints about this to ICASA, ASA, SABS and others. While this might not really help, at least I can say I tried.

Iburst is sitting with my original incident since 18/09 and over the last 3 days I had to purchase additional BW (3GB) to try and get those PS3-updates (without it I can not play online) and sofar have wasted 2864MB in getting a 120MB file. I doubt that they will compensate me for this.
 
Welcome to the iBurps club.

Your needs will be best served by ADSL, as iBurps is shaping every single thing next to useless.

The PS3 download, can't you copy and paste the URL into your download manager and copy the file over to your PS3 once finished?

Already applied for ADSL (I originally applied for ADSL in January and Telkom was just not able to install a normal copper-line in 5 months --- so I went for Iburst to cure my "internetlessness"). I have now re-applied for ADSL again and hope to get it in a few months.

Any game-update for the PS3 needs to be downloaded straight from the PS3. There is no way to download via the PC and then copy it over. I even went as far to install a Squid-proxy in the hope that the proxy would resume the downloads - unfortunately not the case.

I like the term iBurps :D

I haven't seen the frequency of disconnections you have but I have seen the slow down.

I have also noticed a huge decrease in speed and very frequent disconnects...

At least I have my download manager to save me with my bw..

Can't wait for Neotel availability in my area!!!!
 
hmmm seems like this has been ongoing... maybe it's their solution to people who download... I think it's time I throw out this i*** and stick with dsl...
