Does anyone know if the ref from the Germany Serbia game had any fallout to deal with? Was he boiled down for spare parts maybe? /hopeful\

9 yellow in first 37 minute then second half not one yellow was handed out... and you saw challenges from Serbia that wnet into the players from behind...

Because if he ever referees another match I might have to start learning to support rugby.

Tactics backfiring. The Germans tried to provoke Serbia into getting yellows and by the time the dust had settled, we could continue with our regular bone-crunching game with the ref being too scared to pull any more yellows. Again - don't blame it on the fact that the Germans got a strict ref, blame it on the fact that they didn't do what they wanted properly.

Actually, I agree with you. I think the Germans were gambling on the fact that the Serbians had lost a player in each prior game, and the tactic backfired. But seriously, I still don't feel the guy was strict, I feel he was slightly clueless. And let me just qualify that statement before someone tells me to learn the game. I have no FIFA ranked qualifications or training whatsoever and I am sure that the rigourous training they give their refs would kill me. Dead. :) But I still remember once hearing somewhere that I could hold an opinion.... ;)

Course you can have an opinion - even if it's wrong. :p

I will agree that some of his decisions were soft, but the fact of the matter is that players should not get themselves into such positions in the first place. I mean Klose's foul was idiotic frankly - a typical forward's tackle. Did the Serbian guy fall a little easily? Yeah sure... but then again - once the German's showed what they wanted to do - it would be the height of stupidity not to capitalize on it.

Nope, pro's or not, that wasn't a deliberate offence. It should have been punished with a free kick and left at that.

And the ref should be boiled down for spare parts. :)

Lol even though i dont support the Germans, that was the worst ref i've ever seen for this WC!!
I also think he was clue less or on a power rage.. Most cards should only have been free kicks...

The ref for the brasil vs CIV on the other hand was a little to lenient/blind but he did allow play to progress smoothly wich made the game good to watch!

I think they should have 1 ref per group. That way all group games will be reffed similarily..

Most cards should only have been free kicks...
Maybe he was absent on the day that was explained at ref school?

9 in 1st half & none in 2nd does seem exceedingly unlikely. Unless it was a different team/nation playing in 2nd half & I missed the switch.

I've been trying to find a list of all the refs and the games they have called but nothing so far.
All I have found out is that the ref's performance is reviewed by the Fifa referee commitee and then they decide if the ref's can call the games in the knockout stage and from those stages they also decide who will call the final matches.

By the look of how many terrible calls have been some should not even be calling another game ever.
