My connection has been terribly tempramental since last week Thursday and the guys at GamCo aren't being very forthcoming or helpful about it.

Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas what could be causing it?

Thanks for any feedback.

Yes, me too, since yesterday. I am on WebAfrica IS. Anybody know where it's coming from??

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

I'm on IS, I've got this message a few times in the past few days.

Ah, so we're all on IS... common denominator.

The thing that annoys me most about this, is that GamCo keep on telling me that it's not them. It's SOOO frustrating. Every time I phone them about something that's wrong, they give me the whole "It's not on our side, it's Telkom" schpiel, or "It seems fine on our side"

Gaaah!

I pay a lot of money every month for my connection and, to be honest, the service I'm getting from them at the moment, it's SEVERELY lacking.

I haven't had the Network Error message, but for the "Refresh (dynamic_bypass_reload)" message, I find the page always loads in the end (i.e. the HTML redirect works), but it's still annoying, especially for example when using a download accelerator to download files, and all I end up downloading is HTML page with the refresh message instead of the actual file.

radicool, you're right, yes. The page does load. But it's definitely a sign that something is whacked with my connection. It's been terribly slow and sometimes it even stops for extended periods of time.

That's where the problem is.

I had the "Refresh (dynamic_bypass_reload)" once ( the first time I have ever seen that message ) - I am on IS uncapped.

Just got a Refresh (dynamic_bypass_reload) message.

I was downloading a 100mb file at the time :(
had to start again

Damn I've started to get: Refresh (dynamic_bypass_reload) messages again on IS

If I had to venture a guess...I'd say the problem is with the IS transparent cache. Dunno if IS runs a transparent cache...but thats what it sounds like to me.

Im getting this now for the first time. I never remember having this as a problem in the past but then again I never used IS for international back then.

What was the cause of this?

Been having it for a couple of days as well. Yep, you guessed it, IS...

Ok let me inform you all! When you see that. that means that the page insists on bypassing the cache proxy from IS. Since that happen you have a direct connection to the server and your real IP is shown to the website. A very good example of this would be

http://rapidshare.com

When you download a file from rapidshare.com you will always notice this message. That means that the cache proxy is disabled and you are using your real IP. That's why you were always able to download from rapidshare and not getting the IP already downloading a file.

There a quite a few websites that this happen to. My suspision is that IS understood the need to bypass their cache proxy at serain websites and they have done so. Hope this helps!

I have been getting it on and off for a year or two now. It's very unpredictable as to when it does and doesn't happen.

It's really frustrating when you set up a couple of gigs of downloads from rapidshare, only to come back the next morning to discover all you have downloaded is a ton of 1kb "Refresh (dynamic_bypass_reload)" html pages
