Refurbished Graphics Card - Radeon 7970 | Wootware

For real? What if I buy a 7970 brand new Powercolor with a 3 year warranty? Shall that also fail cause then I can just get rid of it :s
Nothing wrong with PowerColor. What does the Refurbished mean though? 2nd hand or were some components on the GPU replaced and by whom?

If it doesnt fail within a year then it shouldnt fail at all with proper use, and not 24/7 mining for example

Save up and buy sometin new.
Buying refurb card is like buying a 2ndhand toaster.
Just just aint cricket!!

Have a look at Wikipedia for what refurbish implies.
In short: the card has been used, returned, (possibly fixed - like fan replacement), tested and is now being sold.

It may be a good options if you've also bought your other components 2nd-hand. Sometimes graphics cards can last a very long time, and other times they only last 1-2 years. Unfortunatley I can't say much about that particular card.

I would also suggest that for a GPU you are better off just saving up enough extra for a new purchase. Some desktop components can be safely purchased as demo units but never second hand unless it's really cheap! ;)

Look at my sig. The only items that are not second-hand there is the CPU, CPU Fan, PSU, and 1 of the 3 HDDs.

Glad that you have a positive experience with buying second hand components but I have had one bad experience with buying second hand equipment and one bad experience is enough for me thank you very much. :p

I've had way more new stuff failing on me than second hand stuff.
