What does a competency certificate for a muzzle loader entail? I mean, there's no way that I'd like to put gun powder into an antique piece of pipe that has been sitting on top of the fireplace the last 100 years.

Register your gun today....receive your license in 12 years.

More like never, this system is not there to protect citizens or reduce crime, this system is to take away you rights to defend yourself, or to one day remove corrupt government by force. He's only doing this to muzzle loader enthusiasts now because he and his department are butt hurt that the high court interdict prevents him from prosecuting those who ignored the call to re-license their firearms. As the state of the CFR and the over burdened DFO's will not guarantee you a competency certificate, I doubt many will heed his call. Besides I have yet to hear of a cash in transit robbery being committed with a Kentucky gun :p

These replicas are available http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KWPy39HHc8 and i reckon could be quiet lethal. Although not as sofisticated as todays weapons they can kill. However in the light of what apears to be happening in this country it feels as if the general public are being disarmed, and the only people that have weapons are the cops and crooks, and there is alot of crooks out there.......

By the time they actually get around to processing my application my gun will be an antique and I will have to reapply for an antique firearm lol.

when are they gonna start requiring a license of paintball guns.... i see they come with some scary **** these days, skull cracker balls, extra hard rubber balls that can surely kill if u put a few of them on strategic places on an intruder... http://www.paintballguns.co.za/security-and-self-defence.html
pellet guns?
i'm sure they'll soon find some excuse to screw people over no matter what u do.

These old firearms are useless, yes they can kill but you'll miss unless you are at point blank range, regardless of your skill with a firearm, they don't have rifling so you need to be right in front of someone else the bullet trajectory is completely random. If you think this move is because the government is scared of a repeat of blood river where a bunch of people sporting unrifled weapons try to take over government you are sadly mistaken. A single person with a modern assault rifle VS 100 with unrifled weapons wouldn't even be a fair fight that is how terrible those guns aim are. Imagine a shotgun, except you have 1 pellet (even shotguns are more accurate than these because of modern construction), then you'll realize the uselessness of these weapons.

I honestly think that this sort of registration is ultimately pointless but at the same time it has more to do with keeping track of a possible dangerous item that you could be harmful.
