So I bought a 1981 Citroen CX Prestige that had been de-registered back in 2005 by the previous owner before he died. The only papers I have are the certificate that states the car was de-registered under his name.

What procedures am I expected to take, documents to produce, road worthy, all those things. This is the first time I've done anything like this and a little help will be welcome.

Go talk to your local traffic authority. They will give you the full procedure.

From what I remember:
Get temp license
Get police clearance
Get roadworthy and microdot
Register again

Okay, thanks man. The I'm busy doing a full restoration on the car.

Some sort of purchase agreement/invoice would also be needed to register in your name.
Guess a police clearance / affidavit would also suffice.

Good luck with the restoration, not many CX'e around anymore. Dime a dozen of DS'e floating in SA in various conditions.

Thanks. Mine requires some body work, but she's mechanically sound. Quite the beauty too. One of only a few CX Prestige's that still run.
