Regret porting to CellC [Gauteng]

I ported from Vodacom to CellC in July this year. I ported because of the attractive data prices. Ever since porting I have had non stop network issues with CellC. I live in Midrand. I constantly have dropped calls / people who need to get hold of me can never get hold of me because it's as if my phone is off (no network), I always get an sms saying that I have a missed call. When it rains, no matter where I am I cannot use my phone because there is no coverage.

My phone battery life is also lasting half the time it usually does because of the bad network.

This is not only an issue in Midrand, I have this problem in Johannesburg (the South) and Raslouw as well. I was a loyal Vodacom customer for 10 years and never ever in my life had this kind of problem with them. Is CellC ever going to do something about this or should I switch back to Vodacom?

P.S. I don't mind if the 3G speeds are slow but I need to be able to use the basic features of my phone like making and receiving phone calls, and if I can't do that I might as well switch to a provider that will cater for these services.

Er. . . Try the manual network search then select Vodacon when having bad reception

My daughter had years of endless crap with her CellC phone (no signal, no incoming calls, delayed SMS, etc). I did a SIM swap and all resolved. It might sound trivial but in my 6yrs in the WASP industry I've seen how SIMs make a difference.

Do let me know if SIM swap helps you. Even I experience the same problem most of the time with cell c network. Majority of the places my phone keeps searching for signal. even though it displays 3G,if I try accessing internet most of the applications say no internet. SMSes come after a longlong delay of being sent...don't know what is going on.

@mika it's not my phone. I thought it was at first but I tried a different provider and it works fine. Will try get a new SIM soon and see what happens.

@randux that doesn't help me when I select vodacom I can't make phone calls at all. (Data still works)

You should try using a different phone with the same SIM to eliminate your phone as the culprit.

Tried using different phone with the same SIM and still a problem. I have realised that there are coverage issues in the following areas: Midrand(Noordwyk), Centurion (Raslouw). Signal is awesome in PTA North (Stormvoel), I was able to use my phone the way it was meant to be used.
