Hi All,

Its been a while since i last posted :)

Need to know what are the critical checks to perform on my environment. An old server recently went tombstone since it couldn't reach the DNS server.

All i can think of is DCDIAG and use Dell Openmanage for the hardware.

Thanks in advance

Depends entirely on your environment and what the purpose of the server is.

Agreed, server roles?

Basic checks though -

- Event log.
- Updates.
- Windows Services.
- Disk Space.
- AV is up to date.

There is lots more depending on the roles of the server.

Our environment is quite large... Domain servers at different regions with DHCP and DNS role. Some of them also serve as file servers and backup repository. Tx

So pretty much a basic environment then, no real custom applications that have custom requirements?

If so, then the list that Deadmanza gave is a good starting point.

When you say large though, how many servers are you talking? 100? 500? 1000?

Thanks guys.
