I have previously had VMware-server installed on my Kubuntu-i386. I uninstalled it because I didn't need it for a while and had moved to VirtualBox. I find VirtualBox a little slow for my needs (although the 128MB VRAM is a bonus) so tried reinstalling VMware-server. I received the following error when trying to install VMware-server from adept-manager, the console ("apt-get install ......" and directly via dolphin.
/////////////////

I know that there is a problem and have seen discussions on this at another site but their solution did not work for me.

Does anybody have a solution this time round?

Could be that the package was corrupted while downloading. Check to see if the file integrity is ok

It is the same package with which I originally installed vmware-server. I have even tried the new version, all to no avail. I have heard that there is a bug with reinstalling it if it has been uninstalled (something about it not uninstalling correctly)

I had troubles installing any vmware product, but when I tried it through Automatix, it was no mess, no fuss and still using it today. So maybe give Automatix a try.

I do have automatix installed. The newest one in fact. Still not working... :(

Problem solved, thanks. Absolutely no idea what was wrong. I haven't changed anything since last trying to install and just now and suddenly the installer works. Thanks guys
