I have now moved back to playing Mound & Blade. Hopefully that will keep me going to BWE3. After that who knows, it is going to be a pain as so much pails in comparison to GW2.

I have never played the 1st GW, but spending almost all of Friday night looking at youtube clips of GW2 gameplay... I am completely sold on this. Pre-ordered and paid today.

I do believe that WoW (and most likely Eve as well) has seen the last of me once G-dub2 hits the shelves.

I sincerely hope I can shake my eve addiction with G2!

Hey guys.

I have 2 questions regarding GW2. Is it instanced based like GW1 was and if I buy a retail copy will I have to download the entire client or only relevant patches that came after the retail version was shipped?

I don't have access to any of this information at work so looking forward to your responses.

GW2 is split in two. Most of the world and content is not like GW1, and is all persistent. There are some quick loading screens between some zones. Some of the content involving your personal story is instanced like GW1. The game in general is a considered a true persistant world MMORPG in that respect.

I am unsure about your 2nd question currently. We fall under the EU. Apparently gamers will not get the disks if they ordered pre-purchase (except the collectors edition). Though if you pre-order or buy the game after release, it will come with game disks. I do believe there are only pre-orders left at the SA stores, so based on that, yes, if you order that, you will likely get the disks.

Thank you for the response.

You answered my questions perfectly. I did manage to have a look at the GW2 website, but was still confused afterwards :)

Yes, especially if you have already got the client, there is no real need to have the disks. Though with the last build making the GW2 installation around 15.7GB, I am VERY curious to see what it is going to be at release, including all the new content and updates :) 18GB? 23GB? Not that I care how big it is, but for some in SA it could be a bit more of a struggle.

Do you think the Beta client and the final client will be the same? I renenber that D3 required a fresh client come launch day...
