Release of Windows Server 2008 R2..

Does anyone know the estimated time of release for Server 2008 R2?

Essentially being the server variant of Windows 7..




I've been playing around with the R1 beta - not bad, though very resource intensive.

If R2 is anything like Windows 7, then it's bound to be a big improvement.

I think it will be released concurrently with Windows 7, I was reading an article by Paul Thurott about that on his WinSuperSite. Seems Microsoft are teaming them up again like they did with Windows 2000 way back then.

I think that they haven't released the beta with much funfair as they did Win 7. I think they don't want R2 to be seen as Server 2008 'redone' (as Win 7 is seen as Vista - done right).

So ja, maybe September or so.
