Remember when everything went dead on June 30?

So tomorrow will be exactly a year to the day that the networks failed badly and many of us were left with no telephony at all for most of the day. The reason I remember it soo well was that my wife and I were stuck in the labourward the whole day and when my daughter was born, we were unable to contact anyone to share the news :-(

I can't remember reading any article that explained what actually happened that day with the networks.

Was a final report released??
 
AFAIR it was said that an investigation would be done, people were angry and Voda gave away some free airtime. IIRC it failed again a day or two later.

Congrats on your little one's birthday :)
 
Hmmmm BBM not working and certain sms's not going through.... Is it happening again?
 
Seems we're having some sort of failure on BIS and BES services. So far Vodacom and MTN are the affected. Spoken to Vodacom... they are aware of issues, say its affecting the BlackBerry NETWORK, both in South Africa and parts of Europe.
Seem 30/06 is *not* a good date for networks.
BIS not even reachable when you're connected via WiFi.
 
Jokingly I said: so we're back to the days of SMS and actual voice calls.
The reply: Eish, so true!
 
Seems we're coming back online with BIS services......
