I’m struggling a bit with remote access to my router. Router is a NetGear DGND4000 (N750). It has a remote access section that is as per the pic below. Could just be me, but I’m struggling with the options.

Firstly, I enable it.

Then, if I select the first option, I need to add my laptop’s IP. As I’m not sure what it will be till I get to the office, I’ve not entered this. Also, I don’t know if my IP address ever changes at the office.

The second and third options are too much – I don’t know what IP address ranges to put in.

The last option – Everyone – seems unsafe. If I understand correctly, this option will allow anyone to connect that has the ip below (where I blacked it out:)). The second bit of security here is that the person would still need the router login and password.

However, it appears that my IP address at home is cycled at least once a day – so that IP address will change daily. This is starting to feel like a circular reference…

Anyway, what I’m trying to accomplish is to have the ability to login to my router from another network via either my phone or laptop.

Can somebody help me understand the options and risks.

The "Only this computer" IP will have to be the external IP address of your office Router/firewall. To find that you can go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ when you are at the office, hopefully it's a static IP.

Check if your router has an option for Dynamic DNS service (DDNS), that will solve the issue with IP change at home

Security, well, if your Office external IP is not a static IP (does not change) you should then rather see if it has VPN capabilities built in and use that, or else your only option might be to set it on "everyone" which I would personally not do

Thanks - setting to everyone just sounds risky, even with the router password as a hurdle to overcome.
My IP at work - if i check with what's my ip - it shows a public ip starting with 192. If i run ipconfig in a command prompt, it shows an ip starting with 10.
