I'm trying to get an old remote blaster set (Elsat, probably circa 2001) to talk to my new DSTV decoder model DSD1131. I believe there is a 'learning' process for the newer blasters (place units facing each other and power up within 3 seconds of each other), this however doesn't seem to work with these older units. Can someone help?

No learning neccesary on the old units, but if they're not too far apart, put the areals down and in their slots. I remeber having a similar problem many years ago and the Ellies techie told me to do this. It worked so I was happy.

Hmmm, I tried this, the receiver unit seems to be responding to the remote but nothing gets transmitted to the decoder. Is this model decoder (DSD1131) actually compatible with these ancient blasters?

A deliberate disabling of Remote Blasters ?

I had a Dual-Vue decoder fore some years. Then, suddenly the Dual-Vue gave an unusual error message. The agents said "Oh, its the software."

It was cheaper to just replace the decoder with a 1131 decoder, although I lost the Dual View function. Then, a few days later, my Remote Blaster stopped working. On enquiring from Ellies, I was told that DSTV had done a software upgrade that reduced the Remote Blasters to paperweights.

Aah ! So DSTV can just ruin your hard-earned equipment by the flick of a switch. They probably hoped that I would get a PVR decoder. So what do they have in store for us Remote Blaster owners ?
