Hiya guys,

Suddenly this weekend I cannot connect. Well mostly not, I managed to connect for a little bit about midday today then it dropped again. Basically it connects to the tower no problem, little green light goes on solid then it times out with the "Remote Computer didn't respond" message. This is driving me nuts, and the helpdesk guys really don't seem up to the challenge. Anyone out there with any ideas?

I have 18% signal (4 bars - Tower 82), S-N-L is 10, and bit error rate of 57%.

MySignal Log:

06:20:07 PM - User Connecting to Tower: 82 - 18% - nb2
06:20:08 PM - Connecting to server
06:20:09 PM - Device Connected
06:20:29 PM - Authenticating Username and Password
06:20:29 PM - The connection was terminated because the remote computer did not respond in a timely manner.
06:20:29 PM - Disconnecting
06:20:31 PM - Disconnected

There was a reported problem this morning - I was offline for a bit, not that it mattered at the time and I phoned about an hour later and they said there was a problem. It was fine about 30 mins after that - sorted !

Ah well,

I am convinced this has something to do with work being done on the tower. Or maybe I should sacrifice a goat or something. Well I think I will stop jumping up and down and wait to see what happens tomorrow.

guys, its not one tower and its not specific to one tower for a specific person.

So. If i move to another tower and get the same problem, does it mean, that alot of the towers are faulty/worked on at exactly the same time? If possible, multiple teams have been dispatched to go f around with towers at the same time, then we have to at least praise sentech for excellent co ordination.

If it gives multiple errors suddenly at the same time, what does that tell us. We have the access denied one where our password is alledgedly locked out, AND where we are getting errors that the towers didnt respond in a timely fashion. Now , if the air pressure dropped to a absolute vacuum and we all had a mind link having us mess around with our own passwords, we are pretty sure its not anything outside of sentech's area of expertise. Which means to me, phone, log a call, and dont take the "reboot , reset, retype, reboot and reset" as an option because we didnt change anything on our side and unless some authentication server got blown up it is something that has been changed by someone somewhere to what everr reasoning there is.

I might sound like i am attacking anyone posted before, and i am not, and if it comes accross that way, sorry. But what ever new changes were done... and although we are being f 'ed around by people giving us the "are you sure your connection is plugged in properly response, reboot and phone us back if it isnt or is and count to 10" to buy some time. i think I will pack up my little sentech modem for a few days before frustration gets the better of me, and spend some time watching tv in the evenings.

I just noticed something

because i use the sentech broadband dialer (or what ever it is called) to see the signal strenght for today before i dial up, it kept on failing with the ****e below.

now i used the sentech connection under the network connections, and connected first time.....

so unless they changed something... it is working through sentech dialup connection ...... I am not disconnecting to find out if it is the case.
