I had two PCs, both 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. One was a pure Kodi machine that I remote desktop into it if I needed anything. My credentials were saved for remote desktop.

Last week though, I formatted the one PC , set it up and tried remoting in - but it's asking for my domain name / credentials. Where do I find these?

I thought they were supposed to be the details you log into the PC with ?

It is those details, but you have to use a password.

If you have a username setup and the pc log in by itself, then you have a user without a password.

For Remote Desktop to work you need to have a user with a password. If you like the loging in by itself, then put it in the registry to log in with username and password.

To get username, go to task manager and users

The pc name\a username on the pc

E.g. Kodi-pc\kodipcusername

you can simply use \username for kodipc and the password that is set for that user..

Thanks.

I'll try again shortly.

Yesterday couldn't get in at all ... tried every password I think I used, including my Microsoft Account password (which some say work)

After changing my password to a stronger one, I had problems getting remote desktop to work. From what I can remember I had to clear cached credentials in the Credentials Manager.. oddly, Web credentials I think.

Anyway leaving remote desktop enabled on any port... I get constant traffic up to my max 2mbps, so I had to disable it.

Wait.

Maybe I'm using the wrong term, sorry.

I just want access to those HDDs.

Probably same credentials though ?

okay wait, wait, wait...

lets clarify here.. you removed the hard drives from your kodi pc and put them in your everyday machine and want to access the data on the hard drives from the kodi machine when you get prompted for credentials..?

if so, try changing the owner of those hard drives to yourself or the user on the current machine.. remember to include inheritance.. this is done from the security tab advanced settings when you right click properties the hard drives..
