Remote Desktop issue / replacement suggestions

hi

Happy new year... ok now that thats over.

I needed to log into to my remote web servers today using remote desktop connection, and after the username password challange it gives me an error, "remote desktop connection stoped working" if you debug it gives you an exception occored in MSTSC.exe. google is no help. I cant get to my remote servers, and i can seem to fix it, short of a compleate reinstall.

any suggestions ? Is there any other replacement that works without the need for a server to be installed on my webservers ?

windows 7 pro 64bit, servers windows 2008 enterprise.

its not my servers as RD wroks fine from my buddys computer.

You could try Dameware mini-remote control. I think there is a 30 day full trial version.

Also, try reduce your remote desktop settings to minimal traffic or compare it to your buddy's settings.
 
thanks, adjusting the settings dont work, its very strange, maybe on of those ms updates again.

VNC needs a server, thats gonna be a challange to install if i cant get accsess to the servers.
 
Check to see if the remote desktop features is enabled. Go control Panel>Programs>Turn Windows features on/off>
