Remote for HTPC and XBMC

Hi,

I have an HTPC that runs Windows 7 and XBMC. I dont have DSTV and only use this for media. I current have standard wireless peripherals but find it cumbersome to use especially when the visitors arrive.

Please can someone recommend a decent, not too expensive remote with mouse support. I must be able to use the mouse to navigate in a browser.

Thanks but dont want a phone app. I have security code on my phone and would hate to wake and enter my code every time. Also a challenge when im charging the mobile.

My research to me down a path where devices like this one http://www.pulse-eight.com/store/products/104-usb-hdmi-cec-adapter.aspx seemed to make the best of sense. Never followed up though as my family are now comfy with the wireless mouse and keyboard.

I have two Logitech Harmony remotes, they work well but it doesn't seem like anyone sells them anymore (locally at least)

I got one when they were first launched and my harmony has been gathering dust somewhere in a box ever since.

I use this for my MXIII droid TV box. It works on any OS. http://www.boxtv.co.za/shop/boxtv-remote/ Cheap, but effective enough for browsing folders, the net etc. The keyboard is cr4ppy though. But the gyroscopic mouse is great.

Flirc is a usb IR receiver that translates any button press into any keyboard or Windows media remote command. So you can teach it to use any remote. The interface is fool proof, and it just works. I use my TV remote's spare buttons to control my media centre.

It works great. Just point in the direction of the TV and small wrist movements moves the cursor like a mouse would. Only the click to hold and scroll needs getting used to.
