my raspberry pi with kodi is fully controllable using my tv remote.. if your tv supports hdmi-cec your tv remote should work fine..

If you are connecting a PC to a TV you can then use this and use your TV remote - https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/104/usb-hdmi-cec-adapter
Hate having 20 remotes. This allows me to control kodi and change the volume on my avr all on the same remote and also allows me to switch on the avr then switching on the tv.

Sorry only now see the raspberry pi comment. Your Tv remote will control kodi. Depending on make of TV just switch on simplink or anynet+.
