Hi guys, is it possible for me to control my home PC from the office?

At home I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate, at work we're still running XP.

If possible, how do I set this up? (And more importantly, will it work using local Internet cap?)

If you have a public ip you should be able to access it via normal remote desktop.
My Computer – properties – remote – allow users to connect remotely to this computer, and select remote users. Assuming you have an ADSL router you will need to setup the rdp port to be forwarded to your pc, 3389 I think. Also this port should not be firewalled on your pc.

You might need to open that port on your router as well, depending on the type of firewall app you are using. Some firewalls can do this I think and others can't, so you would need to open the port in your router settings.

Dameware MRC FTW....
Be advised that iBurps, in their infinite wisdom, sees dameware traffic as p2p and they block it accordingly

Yes. You can use several programs. I do not use it myself but do know of them.
1. Windows Remote Desktop (native Windows application)
2. VNC/ Real VNC
You should be able to do this on local cap. You might need to set up a dyndns account to allow you to reach your home pc across the internet, otherwise you could try using Hamachi (free VPN software that puts you on a network across the internet).

Thanks guys, Ill try it out tonight (and Monday then).

Hopefully my network administrator at work doesn't block the outgoing connection to my pc..

I'm currently using my router at home in bridged mode, so I guess the problem of a hardware firewall is overcome allready..

Thanks for the helpful tips guys.
