About a year back, half my tooth broke off :/

I went to the dentist and he said I may need root canal in futre - but for the time being he'd fix it with a filling. All was great for 18 months or so - but now it's the future ... and I need one.

I didn't have time today for the thing, so I said do a temporary fix and I'll go back next week. Today he drilled out the old filling, removed the nerve and put a temporary filling. Now that the anesthetic has worn off, I've got a dull pain in the tooth ...

Is it a normal thing that goes away after a few days?
Anyone had something similar - or the full root canal?

I had a root canal not to long ago, simply wait it off.
I took a panado and tried to forget about it, and a few hours later it was gone.

There's an alien growing in your tooth. It will soon burst through in a glorious birth but unfortunately maiming the host(in this case you) for life, where they would have to make due by sipping soup for sustenance while coming to terms with smiling with no jaw.

It's the great circle of life.

Ive had three of them , your took has just been raped ,its very tender . Will be like that for about a day. Take 2 acodols and you will be fine.

I don't go for root canals.

I just pull the offending white thing out. Finish en klaar, no more worries.

ok look, if that filling gets loose, fill it asap. if there is a slight opening, get it checked out. if bacteria grows in it, you will be screwed.

I had my nerve drilled out, had a temporary filling, it fell off after some time and I never bothered to fix it...worst mistake in my life.

Panado doesn't do much against tooth ache bro, no pain killer does. Just get it cleaned and filled when you suspect something isn't right,

U used pediment drops (or something like that) when I had all my molars and some other teeth fixed.
Handy stuff.
