Thanks, wanted to cut it off, but was not sure and did not want to damage anything. They just pull off. The shaft will have a ribbed texture that helps hold the head on. I had to cut my old one off, and then went to our local lawnmower shop that gave me a new one. It just presses on, and the textured grooves in the shaft cut into the plastic to ensure a good fit. You will then need to measure the shaft diameter to determine the size that you would need.
No, not at all. Mine just looked like a shaft with splines on. No nut or flat surface area like that one.
Facing the same issue now. Part ordered but I was searching for insight on removal. Have you done the replacement yet? I can confirm though that the 650w is the 6 mm nut. I assume that whole nut in your picture is "it". As far as I understand it, the nut is left hand threaded (makes sense given the head rotation). I have assumed that by getting a grip on the shaft and applying the required force (clockwise) the nut should come loose. Problem is that the only way I can see to do that is to either cut away the "finny" things to get a pliers on the shaft or to crack the motor case to get at the shaft.
It was a mission to remove.
My plan is to vicegrip it and try to remove it, but I just had a quiet Saturday. It was too hot to do anything today.Facing the same issue now. Dremel...one of the best tools invented for this situation!I used a combination of the hacksaw and dremmel to get it off and a pocket knife, pliers and screwdrivers.
Yeah it was a scorcherMy plan is to vicegrip it and try to remove it, but I just had a quiet Saturday. It was too hot to do anything today.
I also removed the motor, had to use this multitool to get it off, fortunately my neighbour had one.Went through this mission with the exact same trimmer a couple of months ago.I completly removed the motor from the housing. If I remember, there is a screw to lock the shaft when removing, but it is made out of a soft metal, so the part for the flat head screwdriver basically disintegrates.Ended up using a bench vice, hacksaw and all sorts to get it off.

Lucky you, I recall colourful language from my mouthI also removed the motor, had to use this multitool to get it off, fortunately my neighbour had one.

The replacement head is R139.00. There is nothing wrong with the trimmer. You can remove and replace that? I just chucked the whole thing in the bin.
