Remove old garden trimmer head

This is were i am at, but that bolt sits
BTW, Takealot sell a 6mm and a 8mm head, what mesurement is that, i mesured the shaft and it is 8mm, i have a 650

You virtually have to strip the whole trimmer down until you only have the motor in hand. You will also see the lock screw that way to lock the shaft, if the screw holds up to lock it.

There supposed to be a lock screw that locks the shaft.

According to the product description:

Tandem Trimtech Wolf Complete Electric Trimmer Head - Head has 6mm thread at the back. Fits many Tandem, Wolf and Trimtech electric bottom mount trimmers. Check "compatible" image. If you incorrectly order the 6mm head & your head is in fact 8mm you can remove the old nut & swap the nut around with your new head so that it fits.

So it appears the shaft is the same size, but the nut size is different. At least that is my understanding.

I checked it up and down left to right cant see any way to lock the shaft, nothing i can see without hurting the windings

If it were me, I'd grind two flat spots onto the shaft opposite each other so that you can get a set of locking pliers onto it and use it for leverage. You might throw out the balance a bit but I doubt it would be too noticeable as the head doesn't weigh a lot to begin with.

Sorry I just read what I typed. I meant that the new replacement head is the same. and The nut sizes is different in the replacement head kit is different. So you should order the 8mm in your case.

Could work. Probably use the dremmel with a grinding attachment to do this. And then finish up with a metal file.

Or drill a hole through the shaft and stick an old screwdriver through for leverage. But the shaft looks hardened so getting a drill through it might be more trouble than it's worth.
 
There is a shaft stub at the back side of the motor, i tried to grip hyere with a vise grip but the metl is really soft, you cant really get a nice grip here. the shaft under the nut on the front1641903096598.jpg i dont really want try i am scared i might hurt it there as well

Most vice-grips have crappy teeth. Use a water-pump pliers, or a small bobejaan. Make sure that the teeth are facing the right side...

shaft.jpgScrewdriver goes there, but I see yours is also a bit buggered already.
Maybe 2 vicegrips. One on the end and the other on the nut.

No Need to open the motor.

I noticed the same thing with my vice grips and also tried with water pump pliers unfortunately I need to go for a operation on my wrist (according to the Doctor not major, but currently very painful) , which is makes it difficult to apply enough pressure and keep it from moving.
 
Been through this and the end of Dec, exact same trimmer. Took it apart, was lucky there was a cut in the shaft, but the head was seized on.

Not meant to be repaired. Bough Ryobi on special from Makro.
