Remove Old Windows

Get a 1TB or 2TB backup external drive. Copy everything over to the external drive with Syncback.

Then format the HDD. Then when yoi need files or look for files just grab them from the backup drive.

Why delete files by type.

Just delete the Windows and Program Files folders and 99% of it is gone.

Why do woman not save everything in one place.

Hi,

Windows 10 was installed on a terrabyte hard drive, which was dead slow.

Put in a SSD and installed Windows 10 onto it.

Now cannot get rid of the Windows 10 on the original terrabyte hard drive. Disk Cleanup tool does nothing to it.

If my Wife did not have her photos all over the place on that harddrive I would just format it.

Ideas please.

Have you looked at the drive in disk manager ?

I think your issue is the partitions created for windows by the old drive. If you remove those the OS shouldn't pick up as a windows drive. Then expand the drive to consume all that space, delete the windows folder etc.

Yes but it won't be inside those System folders so they would be quite safe to nuke.

Also...sounds like you should take her admin rights away, that way she can only save to her Home folder.

Much was my surprise today when I came in here and saw the thread was about removing Windows 10 from an existing drive.
I fully expected question and answer about removing old windows, the frames and stuff.

Srsly... Clean up your sht. But just rename the windows to Windows.old then run cleanup...
