A friend of mine has fallen victim to a false/malicious posting under the Contacts section of http://lost-boyz.wen9.com/home.html

The contacts section runs off a wen.ru domain and there doesn't seem to be a way to contact the site or subdomain administrators

Is there any way to
a) trace and find out who made the posting?
b) have the posting removed?

I wouldn't bother.

One, he risks the Streisand effect. Google it.

Two, if it is not hosted locally, it will be impossible.

Three, I don't think anybody will visit that site - ever. So it doesn't matter.

http://wen9.com/html/?fb seems to be their contact page

The domain registration isn't obscured by a privacy proxy either, so:
