Is this a safe thing to do. I have read up on monolingual and it was recommended on the mac forums. Reason I'm asking is that during installation, there seems to be an inordinate number of foreign languages being installed for bundled apps etc.

I read that as long as you don't muck about with the architecture (universal vs power pc versions) you can claim a few gigs without compromising the OS.

Could be risky - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=58429 - have you got a good backup on hand?

Well I have my old 80gig (still bootable) connected via USB. But - it seems the only major issues is if you remove the unused architecture relating to power pc programs - I am just looking at removing the unwanted languages -

Don't you want to try it Bwana and let us know :p - I just did a fresh install and don't want to bugger it up.

Hell no. Still got plenty of space available so thats the last thing I need.

Best of luck - let us know how it works out for a few gb :D

I did it and it freed about 2 GB, also seeing as I dont use a printer I removed all the printer drivers, that freed up a lot of space as well.

If you want to save space you can cull the themes from iDVD (±1.5gb) and get rid of garage band's application support files - (±1.5gb)

Yeah, I know why Apple installs everything ="It just works", but I prefer a small OS with lots of my own, erm, "MP3's".

And one more thing, dont remove any architectures or input menu's. (under the tabs)
