So this morning I check coolant in the renault clio 2 and the container is empty, look under the car if it leaked out and nothing anywhere on the paving, pull out the dipstick and theres the water with the oil. Now this car only has 130 000Km on the clock I check coolant and oil level atleast once a weak on both my cars, has anyone had a problem like this on a similiar car? the only thing I did was add a bottle of wynns injector cleaner to the tank, that could not have caused anything. The question I want to put forth it, with 130 000Km on the clock do i have to rebuild the engine or just replace the head gasket - oil - oil filter and i am thinking of getting rid of this car in the next few months. do you think its a good idesa just replacing the head gasket only - thinking of getting one of those new ford rangers 2.2 double cab

*cough citroen cough*

shouldn't need to rebuild the engine if you haven't drive nthe car over some distance yet, you'll need a new head gasket though

Like Smalltownsky said there is no need to rebuid it, a specially that you planing on trading for something else.

Are you planing on doing this yourself? French cars are not for the faint hearted.

BTW, Im almost sure they use stretch bolts, replace the as well, its not expensive.

Today's new cars have very wimpy torque settings on their heads, when compared to a 1996 Citi Golf engine...

...& that's why they keep on blowing.

Call my mechanic today and will have him sort it out - Just need to get a quality head gasket and get the head engineered. Just hope that there is no major damages once we open it. it amazing this car is only 8 years old and is never driven hard at all. the service is done on time and the coolant levels and oil is checked almost every weekend.
