Renault steal mclaren's stuff

See!! Why would Audi be interested in this plagued sport?

Lol this is getting fun! F1 should just be Ferraris and let the drivers skill shine through!

'guilty, but no punishment' verdict

The World Motor Sport Council chose not to penalise Renault on spying charges because the team did not benefit from the McLaren information in their possession.

FIA leave McLaren in limbo until February

The WMSC have subsequently decided to call an EGM in Paris on February 14, 2008, at which McLaren, Ferrari and the other F1 teams will be afforded the chance to present their views on the report.

Unbelievable!

A1 here I come.

Omac you seem to forget that the verdict of guilt against the teams (even McLaren after the first "trial") was that there was no dispute that an employee had confidential information from another team. The reason no punishment was meted out was because there was no evidence to show that the employees had used that information to influence the design of the car. In McLaren's case this evidence was later found. So one would assume that if similar emails were found in Renault then they too would face a fine.

Could someone explain how there can be any more punishment for Mclaren? They had all their points taken away for the 2007 season and 100 million pound fine..

Smells like Ferrari dirty tricks to me with this carrying on

eh the FIA has stated that they will ask the WMSC to drop all matters wrt to McLaren after they apology. McLaren have been punished for their 2007 infringements. If the 2008 car had been found to have gained from Ferrari info of course they should be punished then.

And let me tell you now I am one of the biggest anti-Ferrari people you'll ever meet.

No it doesn't seem fair that they get punished twice for the same offense?

That's like being sent to jail for robbing a bank and then when you get out they send you back because you bought something with the money?

If they had received a punishment for 2008 without the FIA having examined their 2008 F1 car it would mean the FIA has presumed them guilty of using the info for their 2008 car without seeing any evidence of that. Which I am sure goes against the principle of innocent till proven guilty.

The punishments they received all related to what could be proved re the 2007 car. The transcripts made that perfectly clear tbh.
