Renault Triber

Read the 1 review and it seems the 1L motor struggles to keep up on inclines with 5 and up passengers.

They should have used the 1.6 motor from NP200

Looks like the partial left side frontal impact of the Triber with the rear of the truck it hit caused the front of the Triber to go under the truck's load-bed (presumably no rear under-rider bars were fitted) and as a result, the left side A, B & C pillars & roof structure of the Triber took the brunt of the impact, peeling all the sheet-metal open like a can-opener.

Watch these IIHS crash test videos to see how properly designed & engineered truck under-rider bars assist in rear impact collisions.

So I guess this goes in the "If you're going to crash, try and hit one of these cars since they will crumple like wet paper" column.

Renault Triber | It’s Spacious, Practical, and Value for Money, but.. | CarWale

The Renault Triber is a seven-seater MPV that you can buy for the price of hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. It is compact, comes with a decent list of features in a practical cabin, and is powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine.

In this video, Vikrant Singh tells you whether or not the Triber makes a good buying option.

Driven: Renault Triber is practical but off the pace

Not a Kwid

A Renault SA spokesperson says the Triber rides on an all-new modular platform that will be shared with another Renault model next year. It’s also powered by a new 1.0-litre Energy engine that features a high-lift cam to enable more pulling power. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder normally aspirated petrol engine produces 52kW and 96Nm. Fuel consumption is a claimed combined figure of 5.5 litres per 100km and all models are fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox.

Is it worth buying?

If you don’t leave the city, it makes sense as a mom’s or dad’s taxi. Spec-wise, you won’t want for anything. If you want a seven-seater, this is your cheapest way to go, but if you are prepared to wait, you can have it with an automatic AMT gearbox later in the year. A turbocharged version will be available within the next 12 months.

Renault this week launched its new Triber. Built upon the company's CMF-A platform (as used in the Kwid and Datsun Go)

So which one is it?

My wife test drove one today, the prestige model. Looks like I'm trading my old Cruze in for this and I'll be driving her Clio. It's actually tiny body wise but once inside it's pretty spacious.
