Renewables cheaper than coal

You know it's BS that we need 18GW of renewables to get 6GW output.

What about all the diesel and pumped storage we already have? Presently, they are using Diesel to fill the pumped storage. We have Ingula 1300MW, Drakensberg 1000MW and Palmiet 400MW which is 2700MW of storage for renewables. So you only need 2700MW of solar to fill it during the day.

Then wind, yes, has a capacity factor of about 30%-40%, so 3000MW of power requires 9000MW of peak nameplate wind turbines. But it is not so simple. Wind tends to blow well at evening peak times 5-10pm anyway, so you need less than 9000MW. And you can pick turbines to generate well in high, medium or low wind resources.

All of this is moot anyway, because you can build 100GW's of renewables and the price will still be <50c/kWh. There is no capital cost to the country.
