Hi all,

Please can I have some assistance.

I relocated to JHB in Jan this year from Durban. I still have my ND plates. Just not enough time to go and change this.

Now it has come time to renew my licence disk. I know you can do this at the local post office. The question is, can I renew my ND plates at my local post office here in JHB or will this have to be done in Durban? Also with the new regulation, do you need to take proof of address when you are renewing the licence disk at the post office.

With my motorbike, which still had NW plates, one of these queue for me places which you pay o do it for you, the renewal came back with a GP registration number.

Needs to be done in Durban.

Just go and change it.

Darn, I am making a trip next month. Will get it done there. Just the hassel of taking off from work to go spend a day at the traffic department.

Now the second part is. Do you need proof of address when renewing at the post office?

Do you have any contact details for them?

If you have the renewal notice which comes in the post, they don't need proof of address. Otherwise, I would take it just in case.

use a queue for u service and do a change of address - you do not need to redo your roadworthy, they will just come back with GP registration papers - only extra cost will be their cost and new plates

That would be your first mistake...the traffic department doesn't do license renewal.

We have a service here where I work. They will do it for you but they need proof of address because of the new regulations and all my letters go to my Durban address. What a mission. But will get it done :)

even your Joburg utility bill goes to durbs?

Use your lease.

I could do that. If I can find the thing. And then changing the reg number of the vehicle, getting plates made up. Plus I make a trip to Durban one a month. So will get it done there.
