Hi all

So we are thinking of renovating our pool. Now the question is what did you dobwith you water? What is the best, do we just drain and take it on the chin with the refill? Any recommendations?

Thanks

A mate of mine was gonna redo his and found a place that brings a "water bladder"... this is like a rubber tank where they drain the water into. Once the pool work is done you can refill it using the old water

you can do this OR fill in the pool and cover it up :)

Thats what we did 3-4 years ago and irrigated the property with automated irrigation. couldnt be happier

My wife wants the pool :(

Now the cost of bladder vs refill, it's only 18kl water.

If you're in JHB, it's cheaper to refill than it is to store it

I'm fortunate that I have a borehole. It took about 30 hours to refill the pool (80k litre), or about 60kWh.

I filled 50kl last year, cost me R2500, a bladder was R3500.

Same boat.. was gonna be about R1500 to refill the pool and a bladder would have been over R3k... I just tossed the water down the drain and helped clean out the cities sewerage pipes a bit in the process probably :P

Yeah I've got a servitude on my property, we opened it up and pumped the water down it :).

even the pool man said just dump the water and refill as a bladder would be too pricey.
So remarbelite is happening next week.

We had a guy come quote to fiberglass our borked marbelite pool. Anyway he also said don't bother with a bladder. He also mentioned the current pool water could have residual chemicals in it and fresh water would be better.

just remember refill pool carries three costs

1. water
2. chem
3. the hidden one sanitation
