Would just like to know if there is a service / PI that tracks cellphone numbers and gets addresses of people.

A friend recently fell victim to a house renting scam for a fair amount of money and i know they will probably never be able to recover the money. They want to do this out of principle now and if they can shame them on facebook (and get their true identities) with friends and family maybe this will help someone in the future.

It was stupid of my friend but school fees and now its personal for them.

Unless you're going to take legal action you're wasting your time & money 'shaming them on facebook'. Nobody cares and they'll just operate under a different name the next week. Baseball bats or court.

They use the ID of the applicants to scam the next person as they request a copy of your ID for the scam. So the "person" who scammed you was probably the last Victim. They also use multiple pre-rica'd cell numbers so difficult to identify. They rent out properties below market value to catch you

Sorry to your friends.
90% of the people rent due to necessity, lack of finances, and all the petty humiliation that goes with renting.
Hope it's not a hard financial knock

Family member at the coast is owed 60G for 5 months rent.
She has full name and ID number.
Who could help her?
Knysna.

Good luck to whoever uses them, they assigned my case and then somehow dropped it from that person. I followed up but got the most useless person in the department who could not even open up my logged case. The people handling tickets on the Western Cape Government website either just close my tickets, give an automated response or don't respond at all. 0/10 and I refuse to waste time going in to see them because the fault is on their end.

The problem is that you are forced to use them, same with the CSOS, the high court ruled that they cannot accept cases that should go to the ombud first. So if you have evidence that your case has been mismanaged, keep it and present to the High court in your filings.

Funnily this reminded me I had sent an email that I never got a response to. I decided to respond to it and ask for a response, and I got a phone call lol what are the chances? And yet the useless ticket system on Western Cape Gov site couldn't even get someone to sort out what happened...

Don't get me started on CSOS, thay are far from perfect. But they are what we have right now, so best use them and if you find it frustrating, just grin and bear it (and collect evidence/s).

Here's what happens when you bypass CSOS:

And when they actually do their jobs, they make some shocking orders:

But that's not all: they have recently started to streamline their processes. Lawful or not? Considering their past non-performance, this has led to a number of anomalies (which, due to the high cost of reviews by a competent high court, typically fly under the radar).

CSOS, like most govt. institutions, are bunch of useless cnuts. But we are forced to use them, at least initially. And thanks to guys and gals like Aurelien dos Santos Freitas and Ane de Klerk (and some complainants with deep pockets), this may soon be exposed in the high court.

Honestly the whole community scheme situation is ridiculous especially as a renter where you actually have no recourse unless the owner gives a damn...CSOS as a process takes forever but worse if you move out of the scheme your case is meaningless so even if the issue remains an issue it won't be dealt with.

Anyway we'll see what happens with this mediation for RHT.

They did reply yesterday but no positive news..
We got rid of the defaulter but he still owes 5 months rent.
We have his ID number and he owns a company advertising on FB yet a lawyer says it's not worth chasing ?
